Octavo, pp. xxi, [7], 327, [1] With black and white illustrations by Egan. Publishers' Burnt orange cloth with gilt tooled stylised titles to upper board and spine. Peppermint green endpapers. With illustrated Egan advertisement facsimile stamped and signed by publisher laid in. A Fine copy. Gift inscribed by the publisher to the half title,"#18 is the loveliest number you can attain so you are first out of the [?...]" First novel by Beresford Egan, agent provocateur artist of 1920s London. Egan gravitated towards the scandalous and taboo, illustrating deluxe editions for works of Crowley, De Sade, and Baudillaire. This semi-autobiographical first novel is frequently hailed as a key work of 'deco-decadence' and is punctuated with erotic illustrations in his unmistakable iconic style. Another excellent edition of the decadent and macabre by Side Real Press.
