This set is undated.It is an antiquarian set from the Victorian Era.
Printed circa 1860.
The original case is very damaged, split, in pieces.
Bound in Full Leather Bindings of the highest quality.
All edges cased in gilding.
Gilded spine depicting American Bald Eagle, Shield and Arrows.
Engraved frontisplate protected in tissue.
In the original leather case, with functional clasp.
Books are bound in full leather!
Embossed panelling to covers, books are exceptionally fresh.
This is a highly endearing, even adorable set.Measurements:
Books are 4 3/8 inches tall, being miniature sized.
Case measures 8.25 inches wide, 4.75 inches deep, 3.5 inches tall.
The books are in exceptional condition, having been protected in their original Victorian case. The original case has extensive damage, cracking, bowing, warping, and wear; that is not visible in the pictures.
CONDITION:Books are VERY GOOD, MINT+ condition having been preserved as new, in the original case. They are tightly bound and try to close when opened. All hinges are exceptionally fresh and 100% fully attached. The leather is remarkably supple. Exceptionally fresh quality paper, a pleasure to read. Only light general rubs and shelf wear. There is no writing. Exceptionally fresh and as new can easily be opened with no risk of harm. Tissue papers are all intact but may have minor wear. Fully intact and fresh, only minor wear such as a crease. The original case has extensive wear, such as extensive cracking and bowing. The case is in poor condition but stands as testament to the condition of the books within. It has served it's function well. Case is fully intact but is cracking and breaking, with abrasion and general wear, as is shown in the pictures; it is fully intact and functional, and has protected the books very well; it is made from genuine leather and is a thick hard case, and is strongly attached but has wear along edges and extremities, especially with warping, bowing, and separation. The hinges are all fully intact and will last a very long time. Front of case has a gilt embossing: 'Emma'. The case is in poor condition with CRACKING and BOWING and WARPING. The books are exceptionally fresh and remarkably well preserved. A gorgeous antiquarian set, still in their original leather case!
