First printing, no others noted. David Daiches (1912 2005) was a Scottish literary historian and literary critic, scholar and writer. He wrote extensively on English literature, Scottish literature and Scottish culture. An early book by Daiches, who had previously written The Novel and the Modern World and went on to write many more over a long career as a literature scholar. Includes: A.E. Housman, Thomas Hardy, Gerard Manley Hopkins, The Sitwells, T.S. Eliot, W.B. Yeats, Cecil Day Lewis, Stephen Spender, W.H. Auden. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Hard Cover.
