About This Item
London: William Pickering, 1830. Cloth. Very Good. 7" by 4.5". Various. A collection of William Collins' poetry, with a portrait frontispiece of Collins. With a memoir of Collins to the preface as well as an essay on the 'Genius and Poems of Collins' by Sir Egerton Brydges. Containing his Odes and Oriental Eclogues. William Collins was an English poet. He was an important poet of the middle of the 18th century as his lyrical odes mark a turn away from the Augustan poetry of Pope's generation. In a full cloth binding with paper spine label. Externally, generally smart with bumping to the extremities. Loss to the paper spine label. Spine has faded and has small patches of rubbing with bumping to the head and tail. Patches of rubbing to the boards. Prior owner's bookplate to the front pastedown, 'A Pugh-Thomas'. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are slightly age toned to edges with the odd spot throughout. Very Good
