Edinburgh: Oliver and Boyd. Very Good+ with no dust jacket. 1837. Hardcover. Color fore-edge; Beautiful volume bound in black morocco leather with elegant gilt and red colored embellishments. Painting appears to be contemporaneous with the publication of the book in 1837. Engraved title. Closed fore-edge is gilt and spread fore-edge is a painting. Contents and binding clean and firm with minor beding to a few cornes. Painting is intact and is an Emigrant train attacked by Commanches 1849. Provenance-A one owner life time collection 5 5/8" x 3 5/8. Most unusual as almost all fore-edge examples found are associated with the British Isles. Linen hinges. A quality painting, .
