About This Item

London: Printed for E. and J. Rivington; J. Cuthell [et al], 1826. Third Edition . Leather Bound. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Octavos. Variously paginated. Hardcovers bound in lovely full calf with dual black leather labels and gilt stamping on the spines. Armorial bindings with crests on the front and rear covers on each volume embossed in gilt. Blind rules along the perimeters of the covers. The gilt crest has an left-facing eagle sitting on a crown above a shield. The shield has four compartments, two with three fleur-de-lis and two with three left facing lions and a motto of "Coll / Christi / Cant." All edges marbled, and all volumes with matching green marbled endpapers. The bindings generally show moderate wear and bumping, but the rear outer hinge on Volume I is splitting with the split running about 3 1/4 inches up from the foot of the spine. The rest of the volumes are a little rubbed but are fairly attractive and are sound. The text has light foxing.

About Pages Past Used and Rare Books

Pages Past is a small used & rare bookshop located a few blocks from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Since 1996 we have been serving the Triad community as well as customers from around the world. We have around 15-20,000 volumes in our shop. We specialize in North Carolina, Virginia, Civil War, Old Leather, Christianity, Eastern and Western Philosophies, and the simply unusual. We very likely have the oldest books in Greensboro; we keep a nice selection of antiquarian volumes and scholarly books.
