Hardcover bound in early full leather with gilt rolls on the edges of the covers and some gilt designs and a burgundy leather label on the spine. The binding is worn but sound. A small paper label is affixed near the foot of the spine. Front hinge starting. The binding is a bit mottled, as if it were covered in some glossy treatment which is partly rubbed away. Early library bookplate on the front pastedown is crudely torn away, exposing some board beneath. An early price is written upside-down on the rear pastedown. Endpapers foxed; text is toned. Hardcover bound in 19th century full brown leather with raised bands on the spine. Compartments and boarders of the boards are ruled in gilt, and the spine titles are in gilt. All edges red. The binding is rubbed, especially along the hinges and shows some old stains, especially at the fore edges and the top edge. The red edges of the text block are rubbed and show pale spotting. An ex-library copy with white shelf numbers partially rubbed off at the foot of the spine. Removed label from the front flyleaf shows some paper residue. The text block is sound, and the text is a little toned but generally clean. Scarce.
