John Greenleaf Whittier was an American Quaker poet. He was influenced by the Scottish poet Robert Burns and known for his anti-slavery rhetoric. In a half morocco binding by Maclehose. Externally, smart with light rubbing. Browning to spine. Spotting to endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and generally clean with light scattered spotting to first and last. Very Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
