London: Ward, Locke and Co., 1882. Hardback. Very Good/No Jacket. 577 8vo. Edited, with a critical memoir, by William Michael Rossetti and illustrations by Thomas Seccombe. With full page illustrations, tailpieces and page decoration. Undated, but clearly 1882 (the year of Longellow's death), given that a postscript to the Prefatory Notice is dated 1882. Tree calf, gilt decoration, handwritten prize inscription to verso of frontispiece (to Harriett Griffith at Howell's School, Denbigh, 1892). Marbled end papers, page edges marbled. Condition notes: Some rubbing to boards, a little foxing, especially to early pages but overall a sound, attractive copy.

Illustrated throughout, from drawings by Thomas Seccombe. Edited, with a critical memoir on Longfellow, by renowned scholar William Michael Rossetti. Undated, dated using Copac. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was one of the famed New England 'Fireside Poets'. His eloquent verse present stories of mythology and legend. His best known works include 'Paul Revre's Ride' and 'The Song of Hiawatha' In a half calf binding with marbled boards. Externally very smart with rubbing to the extremities, head and tail of the spine and boards, resulting in slight loss to the leather. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean.
