Book is bound in maroon leather with marbled boards, raised spine bands, gilt lettering and decorations. 888 pages. Book is signed "Olive B. Steinbeck" in blue ink on the second free endpaper. Added in black ink is: "- Apr-1898 To Mary March 26, 1926." Olive B. Steinbeck (1867-1934) was John Steinbeck's mother and Mary (1905-1965) was John Steinbeck's sister. The book was probably given by Olive Steinbeck to Mary as a graduation present. Olive B. Steinbeck's signature is very rare. Provenance: The Mary Steinbeck Dekker Family Collection, Bonhams, 25 October 2023. Book is protected in a custom cut clear mylar cover. All books are carefully wrapped and shipped in a box..
