An author's presentation copy of the very scarce first edition, first issue of this volume of poetry from English man of letters, bibliophile and poet Frederick Locker-Lampson. One of only one hundred copies printed.With a gift inscription from the author to the verso of the front free endpaper, reading 'from the Author, aug 1868'.Illustrated with a frontispiece from George Cruikshank, and engraved head and tail pieces.With ten leaves of contemporary reviews of the author's works to the rear, as called for.The first issue, with the first line of the third stanza of page 95 reading 'One Hundred Years! They soon will leak'.With the bookplate of Thos. Gaisford to the front pastedown.A scarce work from a prominent nineteenth century literary figure. In the publisher's original quarter morocco binding, with cloth covered boards. Light rubbing to back strip head and tail. Minor fading to head of front board. Armorial bookplate to front pastedown. Author's inscription to verso of front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Light spotting to first and last few leaves, with pages otherwise generally clean and bright. Very Good
