A Good+ copy. 12mo., 86 pp., bound in publishers gilt decorated brown cloth with beveled boards, all edges in gilt. Boards are rubbed, tips & top/base of spine rubbed through. Small scratch on front cover. Gilt slightly dulled. Text is unmarked. Celia Thaxter (née Laighton; June 29, 1835 - August 25, 1894) was an American writer of poetry and stories. For most of her life, she lived with her father on the Isles of Shoals at his Appledore Hotel. Many of her romantic poems are addressed to women; as such, she has been identified by some scholars as a lesbian poet.
