About This Item
Salem, (Massa.) Printed by Nathaniel Coverly, Jun. 1802. 47, [1]pp. Hand-stitched into contemporary tan drab waste-sheet wraps. Spine reinforced with expert tissue mend. Very Good.
An attractive copy of this scarce 1802 New England edition of Young's Poem as printed by the ever-enterprising firm of Nathaniel Coverly. Three poetical "endorsements" prefaced Young's poetic text. Two are written by Oxford dons and one is written by Joseph Bank, the English naturalist and botanist.
AAS records a defective copy with Coverly's price of 12½ cents beneath the imprint. The present copy does not print a price.
See OCLC, under various accessions: Huntington, AAS, Columbia, Peabody Essex, Brown. Shaw and Shoemaker 3603, adding Detroit Public Library.
