Description: This is from the Carolrhoda Creative Minds series of biographies of extraordinary individuals. The stories are related in short, illustrated chapter books. Interior black and white illustrations and dust jacket art by Jan Hosking Smith. This tells about George Washington Carver who took the common goober (now called a peanut) and created hundreds of useful products from it, turning it into a profitable staple for the south, at the time when farmers were suffering from the invasion of the boll weevil. Originally published in 1986, this is a later printing.
