About This Item

1680 1ed Scottish Morison BOTANY Plantarum Plants Classification Science FOLIOS Robert Morison was a 17th-century Scottish botanist best-known for his book 'Plantarum Umbelliferarum Distributio Nova'. This book was an enormous work and one of best books of botany from the 17th-century. The successes of the 1672 'Plantarum' propelled Morison to write 'Plantarum Universalis Oxoniensis', which became his magnum opus. Sadly, Morison was never able to finish this work before his death. This book was written to describe fifteen classes of his botanical classification system. A second (or third overall volume) was published later to include the final sections not covered in the first tome.
