About This Item

Pittsburgh, PA: WQED Multimedia, 2003. Magazine. Fine. Illustrated Wraps. First Edition. Quarto, photo-illustrated wraps (magazine). 168 pp. plus ads. This issue of Pittsburgh Magazine is a commemorative, retrospective issue looking at the life of Fred Rogers, creator and star of "Mr. Rogers Neighborhood". This issue is completely dedicated to Fred Roger's life and work as the lovable "Mr. Rogers" who almost single-handedly created and populated "Mr. Roger's Neighborhood", a world for children which both entertained and educated generations of American children, at the same time, providing a place where children always came first. Fred Roger's was a pioneer of educational television with Mr. Roger's Neighborhood becoming the first children's educational television show in the U.S and becoming a foundational part of educational television. This magazine issue includes a section of quotations a remembrances of Fred Roger's from around the globe as well as many photographs of the private Fred Rogers, a reprint of his response to a previous Pittsburgh Magazine piece on "Who Are Your Heroes", quotes and stories from co-workers on the show, a biography including previous Pittsburgh Magazine covers, reactions from local artists and a commemorative by local poet Sam Hazo. The whole magazine is published by WQED, the television station that produced the show throughout its existence on public television and further is a work wholly made by people that knew and worked with Mr Rogers day in and day out. This copy is in excellent condition, square, tight crisp, clean, unmarked and possibly unread with an unblemished white and pale grey front panel (showing a casual portrait of Fred Rogers) and a flat uncreased spine. A very scarce copy of this fragile collector's item. FINE..
