Fine in Good+ dust jacket. 1972. Special Limited Ed. Hardcover. 0913116033 . History of the early years of the petroleum industry and its inception in the early 1860's around Oil City, Pennsylvania. Pithole is "the most celebrated of all oil boom towns (died in 1877)." Bibliography and index. Original gree cloth publisher's binding. The author was a faculty member of Gettysburg College. No owner's names or other markings. The dust jacket is rubbed and has a few chips and tears (all marginal but one). No indication of printing or publisher--believed to have been published by the author & undoubtedly a first edition. Two sheets loosely laid in: one describing the book, the other a brief biography of the author. ; B&W Illustrations; 8vo, 8"- 9" tall; 252 pages .
