About This Item
Richard R. Smith Publisher, West Rindge, NH, 1953. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Very Good- Condition/Very Good-. Book From the front flap: "Dr. Karraker, distinguished historian at Bucknell University, makes a noteworthy contribution in this book by emphasizing how consistently the merchant and politician were in league with the pirate and how valiantly those who hated piracy fought to eliminate it from the high seas .... In these pages we learn of the true personalities of those 'romantic' buccaneers we have all known, in a vague sense, since childhood ... in a work designed to be read with consuming interest by both general reader and scholar." Size: 8"-9" - Octavo (8vo). 244 pages. Item Type: Book. Text block is tight and unmarked, though the pages have toned with age. The bottom corner of the rear cover is also turned in. Normal shelfwear at the head and foot of the spine. No foxing in this copy. Clipped plain paper dust wrapper shows wear at the folds and has wear, including some shallow chipping, along the edges. The spine is darkened from exposure.
