Soft cover. 8vo. 13pp extract, printed in double columns, illustrated with 16 drawings, including 7 portraits, plus 7 facsimile signatures of pioneers, final page-only was damaged and is here presented in reproduction, salvaged from a damaged issue of The Century Illustrated Monthly Magazine, Volume XLI, No. 3, January, 1891. Illustrations include Arturo Bandini, the Camulos Ranch, including a family chapel, De La Guerra Mansion, an adobe house at Sonoma erected by General Vallejo in 1834, washing day on a ranch, the Fandango, the old Swiss house of Vallejo at Sonoma that was imported in parts from Switzerland, an adobe in Sonoma, the Vallejo chariot for postilion and footman, and portraits of Juan B. Castro, Manuel Castro, Pio Pico, who was Governor of California in 1845, General Andres Pico, Maria de Jesus Vallejo, or Sister Maria Teresa, Maria Antonia Lugo, who was the mother General Vallejo, and Francisca Benicia Carrillo, or Dona Vallejo, who was the widow of General Vallejo.
