Toronto: The Copp Clark Co., Limited. Very Good. 1897. Hardcover. 323 p. 19 cm. Sound and square binding in cloth-covered boards. Some wear to the corners and spine ends. Titles and decorations still bright. Tiny stamp on top edge of text block and all text block edges are tanned. Both sets of endpapers are discoloured. Inside pages are clean and unmarked, with light toning. The first collection of stories by the author featuring the character "Pretty" Pierre, a man of French and Indian parentage and set in northern Canada during the times of the Hudson's Bay Trading Company. .
