About This Item

London: Institute of Contemporary Arts, 2001. Pictorial wraps, 18mo. First Edition. Fine. SIGNED by Smith on title page. Smith not only edits the collection, but also provides an Introduction: “I invited five, bright, young writers…to write stories of a pornographic nature…In effect, I paid my friends to write about sex for me.” This publication is sandwiched between the publication of her first novel in 2000, White Teeth, for which she won the Guardian First Book Award, the Whitbread First Novel Award, and the James Tait Black Memorial Prize for Fiction, and 2002’s The Autograph Man. The following year, 2003, she was named as a Granta best young author. Stories included by James Flint, Daren King, Toby Litt, Rebecca Ray, and Matt Thorne.
