About This Item
Chicago, Ilinois: R. R. Donnelley & Sons Company, 1918. Lakeside Classic 1918 . Hardcover. Very Good. Volume itself has dark green cloth covers with sharp gilt border and lettering on the spine. There is wear at the head and tail of the spine and at the outer corners. On the front cover there is a gilt bordering and a Lakeside press emblem in the center that are both bright and sharp. The top of the pages are gilt and the outside of the pages are deckled. 186 pages, including an index and a 23 page historical introduction by the renowned historian Dr. Milo Milton Quaife. There is a tissue guarded captioned frontispiece entitled "Moris Birkbeck" by courtesy of H. W. Fay of DeKalb. There is a loosening of the hinges near the top of the pages that is apparent just before the frontispiece. The tissue guard is in tact but has a tiny fold measured diagionally about 1/2 of an inch at the upper outer corner. A quite nice copy of a more than century old work that may be needed by someone collecting a full set of Lakeside Classics or seeking works on the history of Illinois. Available for immediate shipment, carefully packed in a sturdy box.
