Fine clothbound hardcover with crisp gilt titling to the spine in a Very Good+ dust jacket with light soiling and two small stains to the fore edge. The Japanese photographer Toshio Shibata's first monograph, a collection of work divided into two sections: "First Pictures: 1983-1987" and "Photographs by Toshio Shibata" (1987-1990.) Shibata is known for his landscape images exploring the delicate balance between human-made structures and nature. Photographs by Toshio Shibata; essay by James Eyenart; edited by Koko Yamagishi. SIGNED BY SHIBATA on the ffep; no inscription. 84 pages; 58 full-page duo-toned b&w plates; 12.5 x 12 inches. Caption list, chronology. Text in Japanese and English.
