New York: Covici Friede Publishers, 1931. First edition, limited. Hardcover. SIGNED. 106 pp. Quarto [31 cm]; full black cloth with decorative silver stamping on the front board and backstrip. Very good. Subtle sunning to the spine, and gentle bumping and rubbing to the extremities. There is a contemporary owner's name, along with a date, in the top fore-edge corner of the front free endpaper. Number 54 of 1500. Signed by Vassos on the limitation page. Phobia is Vassos' most personal work, an examination of twenty-four of the numerous and varied fears that plague humankind. Each "phobia" included is fantastically illustrated and described expertly by Vassos.
