Illustrated with three additional facsimiles. Bibliography, index. Dark red cloth, titles and decoration stamped in gilt on the spine, edges trimmed. In the printed dust jacket, unclipped. Author signed on front endpaper. Top edge lightly soiled. Two faint stains on the jacket front, one quarter-inch closed tear on back. The University of California librarian, bibliographer and historian of the American West's life of a quixotic journalist and pamphleteer. Early immigrant Charles Edward Pickett railed against legal and political corruption during the US conquest of California. This is one of the brightest copies to pass through our inventory. Dust jacket now preserved in a removable clear archival sleeve.
