First edition, 8vo, pp. xv, [1], 178; frontispiece facsimile of the Flumgudgeon Gazette, 2 plates, and 1 illustration in the text; very good in original red cloth lettered in gilt on spine and a somewhat soiled and rubbed dustjacket. This copy signed by the author on the title-page in blue ink and with the small pictorial printed plate of The Holmes Book Co., Oakland, CA, mounted to back pastedown. "Including also," as the title-page states, "unpublished letters written by [Pickett] from Yerba Buena at the time of the conquest of California by the United States in 1846-47."
