Reviews
On Apr 3 2020, a reader said:
When this novel was written the character of western novels had evolved from the serious to the light hearted type which would soon flood the radio and television market of the 1940's and 1950's. The dialog was crisp, repartee, and banter between the main characters was the emphasis. The magazine market, specifically the "pulp" market wanted this type of book, and they got it in spades. Every writer hoping to get published had to go this route, and they did--even Zane Grey, as his later novels used broad colloquialisms and the like. Here, William Colt MacDonald justs follow suit, and it makes for a rip-roarin' good time. Add to that a little mystery, a little superstition, and you've got a book that keeps you doubled up. Read this book for who and what it was intended and just have a good time with it.
