New York: Scribner's, 1881. First American Edition . Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket. Howard Pyle. From the recently auctioned collection of Adrian Homer Goldstone (Steinbeck's bibliographer) and M. B. Goldstone--with the auction tag laid in. Goldstone's penciled signature and comments on the front free endpaper. Red cloth richly decorated in black and gilt to the front board and spine. Overall moderate uniform age toning. A couple of small stains to the rear board and some dustiness to the page edges. Interior is clean and the spine and hinges are tight. The author's first book and collectible thus.
