About This Item
The book is in good condition. There are no signatures, bookplates, or markings of any kind. The gilt lettering and illustration on the front cover is bright and unrubbed. The gilt on the spine is dulled. This book contains all 50 of Rackham's original tipped-in color plates, with none missing, removed, or loose. They are all in excellent condition and have intact tissue guards which have the illustration's titles printed on them. A few pages have some light foxing. This is the Deluxe edition from 1912 which features a new frontspiece and 7 additional black and white illustrations. It is the first edition of this book to have the illustrations interspersed throughout the text, as opposed to being gathered together in the rear of the book. This book comes with its rare original dust jacket. The jacket is in fair condition. It has some wear to its edges and is missing a piece from the bottom of the spine and front cover. These early Rackham's are often split up and sold separately for their beautiful prints. A rare find complete with many beautiful illustrations.
