About This Item
New York : Charles L. Webster & Company, 1888. Book. Near Fine. Hardcover. 1st Edition. 2 volumes, 986 total pages, frontis, illustrations, original ½ leather binding, speckled page edges, Sheridan on horseback in gilt on front covers, doesn't not have stars on the spine, minor rubbing, may have had some cosmetic touchups, the title and volume labels on the spine look like new but I can see no sign replacement but possible, offsetting on title pages from frontis, small owner stamp on fly-leaf and small booksellers label on rear paste-down. A very attractive set overall about near fine. Sheridan's recollections of the Civil War, and his role in the Indian Campaigns with information on Custer. Very attractive set! Dowd 2984, "Covers Custer's Civil War battles and the Battle of the Washita, but Sheridan did not want to discuss the Little Big Horn Battle. Colonel Richard E. Thompson, who was with the Sixth Infantry and with Colonel Gibbon's command at the Little Big Horn, adds his account of the Little Big Horn after-battle scene." O'Keefe 2208..
