About This Item
[iv]+112 pages with photographs, illustrations and index. Octavo (8 1/2" x 6") bound in original publisher's pictorial wrappers. First edition.
Pope, an archaeologist by trade, wrote extensively about Persian art and architecture. He was so fond of Persian arts and culture that he spent most of his life in Iran, at his request, he and his wife were buried there. Their tomb, surrounded by gardens, can be visited today in Isfahan. This hardcover book is lavishly illustrated with many black-and-white and color photographs, many of which are very rare. The topics include domes, minarets and mosques. The text is entirely in Persian (Farsi), and this book is of value to students of architecture, historians and archaeologists.
Condition: Wrappers soiled, edge wear with bumped corners, underlining throughout, previous owner's name to front page else good.
