New York: William E. Rudge, 1926. cloth. Rogers, Bruce. small 4to. cloth. (16) pages. Limited to 550 copies (colophon) or 555 (Haas: B. Rogers, a Bibl., no.128) and designed by Bruce Rogers. Minor wear to spine ends, lightly shaken, else a near fine, unopened copy. A poem on Persephone and Pluto. With gold fleurons, gold initials, and a large gold roundel printed with a Grecian design in black as a headpiece, the first appearance of this type of Rogers decoration (later used in the Odyssey of 1932). Set in Arrighi italic and Roger's own Centaur roman. The typography is by the notable American book designer Bruce Rogers (1870-1957), who "was appreciated in his lifetime. In addition to several honorary degrees, in 1948 he was awarded a gold medal from the American Academy of Arts and Letters for distinction in the graphic arts. Over decades of accomplishment in which he designed approximately 500 books... Rogers literally defined the profession of book designing in the United States" (ANB). Francis Meynell stated that Rogers was."the greatest artificer of the book who ever lived

We accept payment with Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, wire transfers in US$, personal or business checks if in US$ drawn on a US bank, and PayPal to orders@oakknoll.com. Invoices and shipments are processed and shipped within 5 business days (excluding weekends and holidays.) Orders in the USA are normally shipped using the US Post office. Other services such as UPS, air mail through the US Post Office and FedEx are available upon request. Foreign shipments are sent via USPS International Mail (either USPS First Class International Mail or USPS Priority International Mail, depending on package weight). In the US, please include US $7.50 for first volume and US $1.00 each additional volume. If ordering outside the US, postage is $30.00 for a single volume unless the book is very large.
