About This Item
Washington DC: People on the Streets, Inc, 1970. Glossy pictorial cover. Glossy pictorial cover. 1st edition, original photo-illustrated glossy paperwraps (as issued). Designed and overall created by James True, with the assistance of Peter Noterman and others. The text includes poetry by seventeen poets. "Some people who like people and think they ought to get together and communicate have just published a shiny and beautiful magazine packed with poetry and photos" (Phil Casey) begins an article and review in The Washington Post (May 31, 1970), which is included with the present copy. The publication is published by a community-based organization in the Adams-Morgan and Dupont Circle area. The publication was issued as "Number One," though it is believed to be the only issue of the magazine. An excellent representation of poetry and people of the times, and especially so of the Washington DC area. Minimal wear, original price penned to rear cover, else near fine to fine condition. Uncommon.
