About This Item

New York: The Macmillan Co., 1947. first printing, as stated. hardcover. Very good/very good. Voute, Kathleen. Illustrated by Kathleen Voute. Octavo, orange cloth covers with black titles. There are a few small spots on the rear cover, and a little browning on the endpapers, else very good. Dust jacket has the some wear at edges; diagonally trimmed on the bottom edge of each flap--I don't know if it was issued that way or not. No text seems to be missing, but there is also no price on the dust jacket. A nice, bright copy. 061508A "A new life begins for Penny Lavender with a trip up the Mississippi, when she starts out to make her home with her uncle on a northern army post, after the death of her father....The social life of the nearby community of St. Paul is an important part of the story--dances, picnics, and general entertaining when a new family arrives..."
