New English Library, 1977. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. With unclipped dust jacket, with slight fade to spine, no inscription clean throughout with slight tanning to page edges. The mysterious story of the Missing Peking Man which is based firmly on known facts. Between 1928 and 1937 fragments of human bone were found in a cave near Peking belonging to a person over 500,000 year of age. WHen China was threatened by the Second World War the bones were carefully packed into cases for shipping to the United States for safe keeping. They never arrived and there whereabouts were unknown until a $50,000 reward was offered for information.
