Houghton Mifflin, 1967. 1st Ptg. . Cloth. Fine/Fair. (Based on His Personal Papers) Sturdy book, ivory cloth, bright silver and blue lettering on spine and front, map inside covers and adjacent end papers showing routes in blue and white, 362 pages, including two glossy photo sections. On inside front cover, a bookplate for David Ralph Todd. On half-title page on slip of paper in blue ink: "Dave, with esteem. Eddie Weems." Nearby is an upside-down stamp for Victoria Estates Library. Also includes a galley proof of two-page Foreword by Sir Edmund Hillary with ink note by Weems: "I suggested to the publisher they get Hillary for this..." Also includes a report of Peary at the North Pole with ink notes. Also a handwritten letter to Todd signed "Eddie & Jane." DJ glossy beneath mylar, a photo of ice-bound ship on front, photo of Weems on back. DJ has very slight wear to top tips, two thin tiny tears at bottom front edge, light wear to spine top edge, very slight surface wear to spine bottom edge, three very tiny tears along top back edge, tiny tear at spine bottom left edge, nick next to bottom back tip. Fair DJ/Fine book.
