About This Item
1950. ROBESON, Paul. PAUL ROBESON SOUVENIR BOOK. New York: Columbia Records Inc., [no date but circa 1950]. Quarto: pictorial wraps, 16 pages with a nice portrait of Robeson on the front cover. Illustrated with photographs. A promotional souvenir booklet depicting the life and career of Robeson from his early days at Rutgers University up to the 1950s. The book could be purchased from Al Greenstone, based in New York City, who issued similar souvenir books in the late 1940s and early 1950s. Signed by Robeson in ink on the front cover: "With good wishes, Paul Robeson." While there are Robeson autographs available, to find one on a biographical book solely dedicated to the famous actor, bass-baritone, and civil rights activist is quite uncommon! Very Good condition (great contrast to the signature). $650.00 Nice!
