John Donald, 1987. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 6.25" x 9.5. Signed, signature to red flyleaf. H/B 108 pages, condition is very good, a gift inscription to the flyleaf. The burning ambition of Paul Hegarty from the time he first kicked a football was to make it to the top in the game. The story of how he did it makes inspirational reading for any youngster today with the same aim in mind. Paul has played in almost 700 senior games, with the best against the best and his record is studded with great moments. He captained the Dundee United team which won the Premier League Championship, was Club Captain of the team which beat Barcelona and Borussia Moenchen Gladbach to reach the UEFA Cup Final, and scored the goal which put his team into the 1986/87 Scottish Cup Final. His achievements include eight full Scotland caps, one as captain of his country; two over-age Under-21 honours, both as captain; a League International honour; two League Cup successes while captaining Dundee United; and the Premier League Championship in season 1982/3, while he was also Club Captain. His qualities were recognised by his fellow players all over Scotland when he was voted Scottish Professionals Footballer of the Year. The ups - and the downs - of his career, from his boyhood in Edinburgh to the present day make this book compulsive reading for all football fans.
