About This Item

Grosset & Dunlap, 1907-01-01. Hardcover. Very Good/Good+. Hardcover, Reprint 1907 (actual printing was probably in the 1930s) Grosset & Dunlap 270 pages plus three pages of ads for other series books. Very Good, in a Good+ DJ. Minor shelf/edge wear to blue cloth boards with black titles - corners sharp with a touch of wear. Moderate shelf/edge wear and minor chipping to original DJ - now in mylar. No previous owner markings - all pages are clean and unmarked. Red and white illustrated endpapers and red topstain. The DJ did its job in protecting the book but suffered the consequences. Cover portrait of Patty by Edward C. Caswell on DJ is also on the front boards as well and is quite bright. Colors are still vibrant. Rear inside cover has the bookstore stamp of the famous and sadly long gone Hudson's Book Store which was a part of the Hudson's Department Store of Detroit, Michigan. This is number 5 of 17 in the Patty Fairchild series. Carolyn Wells (1862-1942) was an American author and poet. She wrote more than 170 books. During the first ten years of her career, she concentrated on poetry, humor, and children's books. After 1910, she devoted herself to the mystery genre. Very respectable vintage copy in DJ.
