A good+ to very good- set of this 4-decker novel All volumes are bound in full leather, with blindstamped borders and gilt rulings on both covers and gilt titles on spines Vol 4 has two chips missing in the leather on its spine, but otherwise all volumes have just minor scuffing and edge wear, primarily at corners and spine ends Text is slightly age toned, but entirely clean and unmarked in all volumes
Maria Edgeworth (1768 â€"1849) was a prolific Anglo-Irish writer of adult and children's literature She was one of the first realist writers in children's literature and was a significant figure in the evolution of the novel in Europe She held views on estate management, politics and education, and corresponded with some of the leading literary and economic writers, including Sir Walter Scott and David Ricardo 418, 431, 400, 388 pp.
