" ... with the grand opera Patrie! (1886) Paladilhe finally achieved true success. He had matched Sardou and Gallet's fine libretto with a score of power and range (from the delicate and touching to the noble and vast). The work was revived and given at the Opéra until the end of World War I, and was staged elsewhere in Europe." Lesley A. Wright in Grove Music Online.
