Gold lettering chipping off spine label. Bookplate for William Martine, M.D., Haddington, on front pastedown. Foxing, mainly to first and last pages. Top corner cut out of title page with small ink notation below.
During his mental training, Abercrombie became interested in the mental side of medicine as well as the lives of the poor. He had an office in the poorer part of Aberdeen, was a sharp observer and kept records of all cases of interest. Many of these were elaborated into papers, which for the most part appeared in the Edinburgh Medical and Surgical Journal from 1816 to 1824. This book is based on these papers and was originally published in 1828. It remains a storehouse of clinical knowledge, complete with 150 case studies.
