The jacket suffers from minor shelf wear, the front has a closed tear at the head and the edge are chipped; the front end paper is lightly damaged due to a printer's fault: a section had not been properly separated from the front paste down, and finally there is an ownership signature on the half title page. A clean, unmarked and solid copy. " The book examines the growth of Catholicism in The Port Phillip District from the arrival of the first priest, Father P.B. Geoghenan, in 1939. It follows its development in the new state of Victoria until 1862 under Bishop James Alipius Goold"n (front flap)
