This is a later edition; first edition published Venice in 1590; this play in Italian verse created controversy between the 'Ancients' and 'Moderns' of Italy at the time and was very popular; the play was also the basis for the madrigals by Monteverdi. Approximately 5" tall by 2.75" wide; stiff paper-covered card with overlapping vellum spine; name in ink on inside opposite title page: B O Foster Venice 1900-this may be the B.O. Foster who helped with the translation of the fourteen volume Livy into English in the early 1900's.
