About This Item

New York: Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 1983. Hardcover. ix, 396p., first US edition in red boards with a brown cloth backstrip and an elaborate white & gold spine label, casing enclosed in the glossy dust jacket. The two aesthetic flaws we see are how the cloth spine label is rubbed, leaving several of its letters partially obliterated, and then some smudging to verso of free endpaper and to the blank opposite it. Book itself is else sound, square, clean and unmarked; while the bright dust jacket bears a few marks and faint edgewear. A good all-round copy.
