About This Item

London:: Cape,, 1962.. First edition.. Hardcover. Good/good. 189pp. Contents clean and unmarked - but for a small faint stain to the inner margin at p154-5. In the original binding of dark pink textured boards, corners sharp; spine slightly faded, and with a pale edge at the foot, and a pale patch at the head, corresponding to a tear to the jacket. In the protected unclipped red jacket, spine slightly faded, head frayed and with a closed tear. Author's details to rear panel show the back of her head and reveal that she was then at a finishing school. Not a brilliant copy, and not for younger readers: a transgressive romp of overheated intrigues at a girls' school, and involving boys: told in the first person, and with panache!

About Chapel Books

I sell books from a large disused Chapel next to the village duck pond, where I have lived about 40 years: just inland from Dunwich and between Southwold and Aldeburgh. I open 7 days a week, 12-5.
