About This Item
New York: Doubleday & Co., 1983. First Printing, First U.S. Edition. . Hardcover. Fine/Near Fine. Arguably the greatest 20th century writer of the adventure-thriller with novels such as "The Guns Of Navarone," "Where Eagles Dare," and "Ice Station Zebra," among his books which also became blockbuster movies. "Partisans" is at the late end of his 29 bestsellers but shows MacLean's skills did not fade in the years before his death in 1987. It is the story of a commando unit dropped into the Balkans during WWII to deliver a mysterious message to the Yugoslavian Royalists waging a guerrilla war against the Nazis. Boards and text are clean and unmarked, tight and square, not remaindered. The dustjacket shows only a tiny tear at the top of the back panel near the spine and minor wear at the spine ends. No significant tears, chipping or creasing, not price-clipped. A collectable copy.
