New York: Partisan Review, 1940. 1st edition. Soft cover. Very Good/No Jacket (as issued). Near VG. 8vo, 80pp (plus plates), printed wrappers. Rare wartime issue, includes the first US publication of East Coker by T. S. Eliot (preceding its separate publication by Faber and Faber as well as its appearance in Four Quartets); an essay on Jacques Maritain; and writing by Katherine Anne Porter and others. Light pencil emphases to Eliot poem (no other markings), a little fraying to spine (mainly at top), wrappers have some soil, toning and wear.
