About This Item
Text is clean and unmarked with a tight and bright binding. Several small, faded spots on the red top of the text block. Volume very slightly cocked. DJ is smudged a chip and closed tears at the spine and back DJ flap. From the front DJ flap, "This is the third volume to come from a great scholarly undertaking, the assembling and editing of Benjamin Franklin's complete writings and correspondence. Volume 3 shows Franklin participating with great vigor in public affairs and scientific investigations, while maintaining his interest in his printing office and newspaper. In the autumn of 1747 Franklin leads a movement to create a volunteer militia - the 'Association' - to protect Philadelphia from incursions by French and Spanish privateers."
