Madagascar is home to one of the richest and most exciting palm floras of the world, which until now has remained poorly known. Here, in this volume, for the first time ever the palms of Madagascar are described in English. Of these 171 species, 166 occur only on Madagascar and nowhere else, making this an area of global importance for palm diversity.
